North American Missions is part of the overall missions strategy of Washington Baptist Church. We believe that in order to be obedient to the Great Commission to take the gospel around the world, we must include the “Judean” call to go beyond the horizon of our local missions field to the field just over the hill.
The North American mission emphasis of Washington has primarily focused on the Appalachian region of America. Washington has entered into a partnership with Darbyville Baptist Church in St. Charles, Virginia. St Charles is in the coal mining mountains in the western part of Virginia. The Washington team takes at least two trips annually to minister to the people of that area via Senior Adult Bible studies, children’s Vacation Bible School, construction projects at Darbyville and throughout the community, supplying and working in a clothing distribution center and any other way that we can minister to people in the name of the Lord. Our mission team includes adults and youth and is open to anyone who feels the call to go.
Washington supports the North American Mission program through out financial gifts to the Cooperative Program and through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.
